H. Scott Roth (b. 1989, Bay Area) makes digital art that feels alive — gently blurring the line between what you see and what you sense just beneath the surface. Based in Oakland, he studied film at California State University, Long Beach, and later explored art and sound design in Hamburg. He returned to California in 2012 and has since balanced freelance cinematography and editing with his personal digital studio practice.
Roth’s signature “soft op” style creates quiet vibrations, flowing motions, and subtle perceptual shifts. These pieces quietly nod to the optical experiments of mid-20th-century artists while adding a dreamy, almost psychedelic sense of hidden depth and possibility.
With a filmmaker’s eye and a digital experimenter’s curiosity, he brings cinematic intuition into generative work. He began minting and exhibiting NFT series on Ethereum in 2020 and has continued on Tezos since 2021.
